Membership is FREE and is only used to monitor our growth and allow for the sharing of information relating to our mission. You can become a member and not commit yourself to being an active member, although we would prefer you select at least one of the suggested actions below. However, if you identify with TEAM, and are unable to actively participate, you are encouraged to join and watch the action. Knowing you’re with us is important to our success. As I mentioned, we are harnessing the power of the Internet, which leads me to the second action step. We are using Yahoo Groups as our source of immediate contact. As a member of the TEAM Yahoo Group, you will be able to send an email to the entire membership. This will allow us to share news, an idea for a project, or even a story about an action you have taken. It will also be where Action Alerts will be sent out. Again, no commitment on your part is necessary, except perhaps a little time to sit back and read, or respond to an Action Alert. Sign up below for the TEAM Yahoo Group. Action Alerts are one of the main driving forces of TEAM, as they allow everyone to participate in a timely manner. Action Alerts will be posted in the Yahoo Group so that members may respond to them immediately. They may be in the form of a news story or just a few lines of explanation with a website or email link. A major part of the political process is speaking up. If you receive an Action Alert that causes you to want to respond, send an email to the Action Alert email address. Voicing your displeasure in the group has no reward. TEAM is not about stirring each other up; it’s about speaking out to those that we disagree with. If enough members respond, the offending person or group will certainly get the message. When you respond, it is important that you do so in a polite professional manner. Honey draws more flies than… well you get the idea. I would like to put together some teams that will monitor a particular area of interest instead of everyone trying to watch everything. If The Vote is your bag, follow what's happening there and report it in the groupmail. I'm currently following the Separation of Church and State issue, it's a very active issue now. Spread The Word. Members that have websites. An important task at Team is growing the membership. It only makes sense that the more members we have the more we can accomplish. If you have a web site, you have the opportunity to promote TEAM. Visit our “ Link To Us web page and pick up some banners and code to place on your web site. Include a short blurb about who we are and our goals. Members without websites. Visit the TEAM Merchandise Store and order a T-shirt to wear at that next get together, or a coffee mug to take to work. I'm working on placing more items in the TEAM Merchandise Store . Get people asking you about TEAM. Have a few hand-written, or printed, notes in your wallet or purse with our web address and ask them to visit. The Power of Email. First, let me say that TEAM members are not permitted to send Spam. It is against the law and annoying to the receiving party. However, each member has friends or family that are glad to receive email messages from them. When you have an issue, you feel needs to be shared, who better to share it with than your friends and family. Most email programs allow you to setup groups so you can type one email message and send it to your entire group. When you send these out be sure to include a link to the TEAM web site at the bottom of your message. As you can see, there are quite a few things you can do with little effort, and still be a part of the political process. As I mentioned earlier, our adversaries are well financed, so we must have ways to reach our goals with limited capital expenditures. This is where the TEAM SPIRIT goes to work. TEAM SPIRIT is an amazing concept that empowers a member to action. It allows members to set their own time and financial investment limits, to be creative, and assists the entire TEAM in accomplishing its goals. It is a much more powerful method of accomplishing goals than the methods used by our adversaries. It’s a true grassroots method. Here’s how it works: Instead of TEAM creating brochures and flyers at great cost, and then trying to get them distributed, why not empower members to take that action. TEAM gives you permission to use the TEAM name and logo on any printed material that is used to promote the goals of TEAM as stated at our web site. You must include the URL to our website in your printing. So, you no longer need to attend a meeting, go with a group, or wait for TEAM to start a campaign. Maybe you never talked to your neighbor, or at your club meeting, about the issues that are important to you because it was hard to start the conversation. As a TEAM member, you now have an opening line, “Have you heard about TEAM?” That’s where your printed material comes in. Hand them something they can keep, something they can think about. You can have 100 flyers printed for less than ten bucks. Imagine, the impact that small investment can make. People often don’t talk about the issues because they feel they are alone. Your flyer let’s them know that there are others that want change in America. Choose your own topic, one you feel comfortable with. Separation of church and state, voter registration, unbiased news reporting; the choice is yours. Maybe it’s something you just heard on the news and want to be sure others know about it. Like the State Representative in Alabama that wanted to have a book burning, or a zealot spewing out hate, it’s endless. Post the contents of your flyer in the TEAM Yahoo Group before you print and ask other members to make suggestions that might improve it. This also gives other members ideas they can use to create their own campaigns. I'm looking for volunteers that have computer art experience to design some flyers that we can make available for download at the website. Now imagine 1000 members or more doing the same thing. Over 100,000 people reached with one on one human, caring, contact. There is not a more powerful way of accomplishing our goals. TEAM has established some primary goals: To increase Voter Registration. To monitor and react to the conservative Christian Movement. To monitor and react to bias in News Reporting and Other Media. To Insure the Separation of Church and State. To Assist Other Groups and Individuals in Obtaining Equality. To Promote the Truth To Mobilize Individuals to Be Active Participants in The Protection of Rights.
